Granite Countertop Restoration Singapore

Some says the living room is the heart of the home, I say the kitchen brings everyone together. Nothing beats gathering the whole pack prepping meals and cracking jokes, bonding over the aromatic smell of food. With that said, a growing numbers of homebuyers today are focusing on the details of the kitchen as much as their living room. Besides, wouldn’t it be nice to have guests over to a lovely kitchen?

Upon entering a kitchen, the first thing that people notice aside from the gorgeous built in cabinets are the countertops. Thus, it is important that you put it on priority when it comes to renovating and designing your kitchen. Of course, while wanting your countertops to be aesthetically pleasing, you would want them to fit their purpose based your needs as well.

Timeless Beauty

There is an array of options for you to choose from when it comes to countertops, from the rustic butcher blocks to industrial professional looking stainless steel. Aside from that you also have the simple yet beautiful tiles and the affordable and versatile laminate. Last but not least, how can we can we miss out on one of the most durable and timeless countertops, granite?

Granite, coming straight out of nature to your kitchen is unique in design and no two slabs of stone have the same grain. They are made out of mostly quartz, feldspar and mica, mica being the component which gives the shine and sparkle to your granite, as if you trapped the whole galaxy into a piece of rock. Not only that granite will never fail to impress, it is also hard and resistant to scratches, heat and other wear and tear. With that, granite comes with an expensive price tag. It may not be for the budget conscious ones, but once you look past its price tag, you are directly increasing the value of your house too.

Make Your Granite Countertop Shine Again

Although the durability of granite countertops are non-questionable and is practically maintenance free, they should still be handled with care. Like other stones, granites need to be treated with a stone sealer or mineral oil rubdown periodically as they are susceptible stains. Over time, granites can also turn dull due to the build-up of soap film from all the dish washing and even water stains depending if the mineral content in your water is high. All of these can be solved by using a soap film remover. For more stubborn stains such as acid from food, you can opt for a polish powder specially catered for natural stones countertops. All you have to do is mix the powder with water to form a paste and polish the area with a soft cloth. If all else fail and your countertop is still dull, it might need a resurface. Although there are videos on the internet where you can learn how to do it yourself, it is highly recommended that you leave it to the pro to restore the shine of your granite countertop.
