Granite Restoration

Have you ever walked into a house and be mesmerized by their granite flooring? Or stopping by the kitchen on your way to the washroom because that granite countertop is too gorgeous to be overlooked. Granite has earned its reputation in the world of building material not only for its aesthetics, but also for its high durability. In fact, granite has already marked its appearance in homes since centuries ago. It was a luxury back then, so it is now.

Granite is formed through the slow crystallization of magma beneath the surface or that earth. It is made up of mainly quartz, feldspar and mica. Its colour is determined by its minerology, so some maybe predominantly white or grey.

Even The Toughest Needs Love

Among the other stones, granite places first when it comes to the hardness. It is so hard that it is scratch and heat resistant. Because its pores are so small, granites are practically water resistant too. But never take that for granted because they are still susceptible to stains, thus no matter what, a sealant is necessary as a protective layer. While granite itself is almost indestructible, the sealant is a different story, so when cleaning the countertop or the floor, do take note on the cleaning agent. Be on the safe side and always use cleaning agents with a neutral PH.

Granites can easily last for 10 to 15 years but if carefully cared for, it might last even longer. When you install granite, you are looking at long term because of its price tag. Although it requires very little maintenance, it is still recommended to reapply the sealant every 2 to 4 years to maintain its shine. If the granite flooring is installed in a space with high traffic, over time, it will turn dull and get covered with scratches. Someone might accidentally topple their drinks and leave stains on granite too. When you are finally not able to un-see these, we restoration Xpert are always glad to be at your service.

Restoring Granite

We clean, we grout, we restore, we polish and we seal, anything you need to get that granite back to its formal glory.

Granite Honing

To remove any scratches or minor cracks, we will use an abrasion technique known as diamond grinding. It is best to leave this to the professional because for a floor which you have paid so much for, you would not want to accidentally ruin it and pay more for the fixing. Through diamond grinding, we are eliminating the imperfections and revealing a fresh layer of granite.

Granite Polishing

Granite honing will give you a smooth surface but it might have taken some shine away and leave a matte finishing. To make it shine again, we will polish it with granite-specific equipment, letting you see your reflection on the granite in no time.

Granite Tile Replacement

For some granites installed outdoors, they are more prone to cracking or breaking due to the harsher conditions such as being run over by cars if it is installed on the porch. Although it is usually quite rare for such scenario to take place, we will send our experts over to replace it with a new tile without affecting neighbouring tiles

Granite Sealing

After all the repairs and polishing, it is now time to seal the stone. Be it the floor or the countertop of even wall, it is recommend to seal it to enhance its stain resistance. You would not want to worry when hosting a party if the guests are going to spill their drinks or drop their food.
